China’s Tianjin Olympics: Tianjin: Games go on
China’s National Olympic Committee (NOC) announced Tuesday that the country’s first two-day Olympic Games are going ahead in Tianjin.
The news comes a day after the NOC released preliminary results for the Beijing Olympics, which will be held on Aug. 5.
The official Xinhua news agency said the results of the Tianjin Games would be announced in the coming days.
The announcement comes as the government and China’s sports ministry prepare for the Games, which have become a symbol of China’s economic growth and a key test of the countrys commitment to the rule of law.
China has seen an influx of migrants from its former colonies around the world in recent years.
The country has also become increasingly sensitive to the migration crisis in Africa and the Middle East.
